Volunteer ensemble ”Stiprās sievas” (“Strong Women”) has come together remotely during the state of emergency to record a music video for the song “Vij, Dieviņi, zelta viju” (“Make, God, a Golden Wreath”), according to Latvian Television's “Rīta Panorāma” broadcast on April 27.

The ensemble is led by Igeta Ozoliņa and was formed at the “Bildes” music and art festival's summer camp in 2014. It's self-expression is formed by creative personalities from various industries who come together to learn about and sing Latvian folklore - folk songs, songs of strength and incantations.

“Each one found a special place, a special background, some specific pain from themselves. And the clip is bright, so joyful,” said Ozoliņa.

She said that filming was a big challenge, as they're usually used to depending on one another, but now they had to sing a solo. However the director feels the emotions from each woman are captured in the video.

“We decided to create this work as is possible today - remotely. So each woman, in her house, in her place, going to nature, individually recorded their singing part, and afterwards kaspars Barbls combined them into one clip,” said Ozoļina.
