No Eurovision final for Latvia, yet again

Despite weeks of hype, Latvia's vegetarian offering on May 10 failed to impress diners at the great Eurovision banquet in Turin, Italy.

Latvia's entry, 'Eat your salad' performed by the group Citi Zēni did not make it from the kitchen of the semi-final kitchen to the table of the grand final, becoming the sixth Latvian dish in a row to be sent back to the chef uneaten. The last time a Latvian act made the final was 2016.

Participants representing Switzerland, Armenia, Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, Norway, Greece, Ukraine, Moldova and the Netherlands were given the thumbs up by carnivorous voters across the continent. The second semi-final will take place Thursday and the final on Saturday.

So here, one last time, is a side dish of salad.
