Riga Saxophone quartet, along with singers Beāte Zviedre and Emīls Kivlenieks, are giving a Broadway and Film Music concert in Mālpils Manor on Friday, June 26, Latvian Television reported on June 25.

The Broadway and Film Music concert program is one of the most versatile programs of the Riga saxophone quartet. COVID-19 time has also been quiet and peaceful for these musicians, so the June 26 concert at Mālpils Manor Park is especially awaited.

The singer Beāte Zviedre, in preparation for the concert, tells her that the musicians had been waiting for rehearsals after a three-month pause. She, along with singer Emīls Kivlenieks, together with the Riga saxophone quartet, created an attractive program called “Broadway and Film Music.”

“Every piece of music I perform is dear to me. I have a piece where I move like a doll – I learned the partitions of the movements of dolls. I have a piece of “Cats” from the Lloyd Webber Musical – “Memory” that many know in great performances. Even from Raimonds Pauls, I had a great discovery on “Vējš meklēja melodiju,” explains Zviedre.

The concert will feature excerpts from listeners' favorite operas and musicals by well-known composers such as Leonard Bernstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Raimonds Pauls, Elton John and others.

The musicians of the Riga saxophone quartet – Katrīna Kivleniece, Artis Sīmanis, Ainars Šablovskis, Baiba Tilhena – and singers Beāte Zviedre and Emīls Kivlenieks will be waiting for the audience on June 26 at Malpils Manor Park, and later concerts will also be held elsewhere in Latvia.
