This weekend, with rain and mist looming outside, take advantage of the many concerts offered live from different concert halls and stages in Latvia!

Dvořák's Symphony No. 9

Friday, March 12, Lielais Dzintars concert hall in Liepāja offers Antonin Dvořák's popular Symphony No. 9 "From the New World ". The Liepaja Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by its chief conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius.

The concert will be streamed Friday at 18:55 on Liepāja Symphony Orchestra website or Facebook page, Lielais Dzintars Facebook page, Liepāja Municipality Facebook page or LSM.

Contemporary music festival deciBels

Also on Friday, the contemporary music festival deciBels promises a powerful evening with Latvian Radio choir vocalizing Luciano Berio's "A-Ronne", followed by premieres by Latvian musicians Agita Reķe, Alise Rancāne and Evija Skuķe.

The event will be streamed at 19:00 on YouTube.

Latvian Grand Music Award

The annual Latvian Grand Music Award ceremony is taking place Saturday, March 13, live on Latvian Television and Latvian Radio 3 from the National Opera House. 

The Latvian Grand Music Award is the highest form of state recognition in the field of music, established in 1993. This year composer Imants Kalniņš and conductor Aleksandrs Viļumanis are receiving the lifetime contribution prize, but seven other categories have yet to announce the winner.

On stage will be Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Latvian Radio bigband, Maestro Raimonds Pauls, organist Iveta Apkalna and others.
