The Latvian basketball team had already secured a place in the Olympic semi-finals. This was done in the first match of the day on August 2, when the French team was beaten 22:20. Before that, Latvians had won all games: against Lithuania (21:14), the Netherlands (21:12), China (22:8) and the USA (21:19).
Latvia has also secured first place in the sub-group with its victory over Serbia.
The Serbian team has won three of its five matches so far. Their only loss came against China, while their wins were against France, the USA, and the Netherlands.
Latvia will play its last match of the group tournament on August 4 at 19:00 against the Polish 3x3 basketball team.
Six of the eight teams will reach the Olympic knockout tournament, with the top two automatically qualifying for the semi-finals, while the 3rd-6th place finishers will play in the quarter-finals.
