Caune crossed the finish line in 16th place. She covered the distance in 15 minutes 38.19 seconds.
Lasmane reached 13.76 meters in her first qualification attempt. The final was possible either by clearing 14.35 meters in the high jump or by being among the top 12 athletes.
On her second attempt, Lasmane lost her balance after the first step and did not show a competitive result. On her third attempt, Lasmane jumped 13 meters 54 centimetres. Lasmane had the best result in her first attempt, but it was not enough to reach the final.
A total of eight Latvian athletes have qualified for the Olympic Games. In addition to Lasmane and Caunes, the Olympics will also see pole vaulter Valters Kreišs (starting August 3) and runner Gunta Vaičule, who is expected to compete in the preliminaries of the 400 meters on August 5.
As usual, a large part of the Latvian athletics delegation is made up of javelin athletes. This time, Līna Mūze-Sirmā and Anete Sietiņa will compete in the ladies' competition (qualification on August 7), while Gatis Čakšs and Patriks Gailums will compete in the men's competition (qualification on August 6).
