The athletes started by jumping over a 5.40 meter-high bar - Valters Kreišs did it without any problems. He also cleared the 5.60 and 5.70-meter bar, placing himself among the top 12 who will continue the competition in the final on Monday!
Kreišs' personal best, which is also his best this season, is 5.72 meters.
The world record in the pole vault is 6.23 meters, held by the talented Armand Duplantis of Sweden. Meanwhile, the Olympic record was set in Rio 2016 by Brazilian Tihago Braz at 6.03 meters.
