Neretnieks is competing on Palladium KJV. Unfortunately, Neretnieks and his horse did not clear the sixth fence. This was followed in a short time by two more mistakes, which gave the Latvian competitor 12 penalty points. He and his horse Palladium KJV completed the course in 73.66 seconds.
The 12 penalty points will keep the Latvian from a place in the final, as he was already in 35th place after his start, with 32 athletes still to go.
A total of 74 athletes take part in the qualification, of which the best 30 qualify for the final.
The equestrians will ride it out for the medals on Tuesday August 6.
