Bobrovs competed in the fourth heat in lane eight. Bobrovs finished his heat last with a time of 2 minutes and 13.66 seconds, which gave him 21st place out of the 25 competitors.
"It was easier to swim this time, maybe I didn't have a good enough strategy," said the swimmer afterward.
Overall, Bobrovs was satisfied with the start as he managed to swim close to his personal best. He also said that this was probably his last Olympic Games.
Three years ago in Tokyo, Bobrovs finished 31st out of 40 competitors.
