Latvian Football Federation President Kaspars Gorkšs survived a vote of no confidence during the federation's extraordinary meeting on March 28.

87 Football Federation members voted against dismissing Gorkšs, 42, voted for the no-confidence motion, and four abstained.

"This vote means that the changes I have started are on the right track. It will motivate me to move on. Thanks for the objections and criticisms - they will help us grow and develop," Gorkšs said after the vote.

The extraordinary meeting of the Football Federation was held at 21 federation members' request who wanted to fire Gorkšs as the federation's president.

Gorkšs was elected the Latvian Football Federation's president last April for a period of two years, promising wide-ranging reforms in an attempt to increase interest in the sport and revive the fortunes of the national team, of which he was a much-admired captain.
