Latvia beats Italy 3-0 to record second world championship win

Take note – story published 4 years ago

Latvia returned to winning ways at the IIHF world championships in Slovakia May 14 with a 3-0 victory over Italy. The win gives them two wins and a loss from their first three games.

An honorable mention should also go to Italian goalie Andreas Bernard who made an incredible 62 saves to deny Latvia what would otherwise have been a hatful of goals.

After three games Latvia are poised mid-table, but face some very challenging matches in upcoming days to progress to the knock-out stages of the tournament. Next up is a match against the Czech Republic on May 16.
