The loss means that while Latvia still has a theoretical chance of qualifying for the knock-out stages of the tournament, it will require a string of sensational victories against some of the top teams in the qualifying group. Latvia has now won two and lost two matches and the next promises to be another memorable occasion when the team takes on Russia on May 18.
