Latvian luge team triumphs in Switzerland

The Latvian luge team of Elina Ieva Vitola, Kristers Aparjods and Martins Bots/Roberts Plume won gold at Sunday's final Luge World Cup stage at the St Moritz track in Switzerland, which also served as the European Championships.

Germany placed second, while Russia took the bronze.

This is the second triumph for the Latvian luge team at the European Championships - which also won the gold in 2008 in Italy and 2010 in Latvia.

The Latvian luge relay team also finished in overall second place in the Luge World Cup standings, finishing behind Germany.
