Skeleton legend Martins Dukurs added yet again to his trophy cabinet March 8, becoming world champion for the sixth time

The 34-year-old finished half a second over second placed Nikita Tregubov of Russia, giving Dukurs the World Championship title for 2019 alongside his previous titles from 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

The victory was emphatic with Dukurs the fastest in all four heats, setting a new track record at Whistler, Canada along the way.

Third place and World Championship bronze went to Olympic Champion Sungbin Yun of Korea.

Speaking after his victory, Dukurs said he was now targeting the one medal in the sport he has dominated that remains elusive: Olympic gold at the next games.
