Ostapenko wins fourth career title

Latvia's former French Open champion Aļona Ostapenko (her name is usually rendered as Jelena on the TW tour scoreboard but is called Aļona in her homeland) claimed a fourth career title June 26 in an all-Baltic match-up. 

Latvia's top-ranked player Ostapenko on Saturday defeated Estonia's Anett Kontaveit in straight sets to become this year's winner of the Eastbourne WTA 500 series tennis tournament in England.

Wild card Ostapenko, currently 43rd in the WTA rankings, beat Estonia's top player Kontaveit (WTA ranked 27) 6-3, 6-3 in the final.

Ostapenko defeated world number 19 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia 6-1, 6-3 in the opening round of the tournament, then went on to defeat Tunisia's Ons Jabeur 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in the second round and Russia's Daria Kasatkina 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the third round.

In the semi-final, the Latvian beat Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan 6-4, 6-1.
