According to the General Secretary of the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) Roberts Pļāvējs, the tests carried out at the airport are 'probably very sensitive, but these seven cases should not be treated as positive cases'. Two additional tests will be carried out within 24 hours, following the same system as all Olympians will be tested throughout the Olympics.
Pļāvējs said that the Latvian Olympic Committee (LOK) and the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) have discussed the matter and found out that tests performed at the airport have also shown positive results on people who have recovered from Covid-19 in recent months. If the results of the repeated tests are negative, these players will also be able to join in with training.
