Valmiera is where several leading Latvian BMX racers grew up, including the two-time Olympic Champion Maris Strombergs.
In 2013, Riga hosted stages nine and ten of BMX European Cup.
The European BMX Championships next year will take place in Glasgow, Scotland while in 2020 the Belgian city of Dessel will play host.
This year's European Championships took place in Bordeaux, where Edzus Treimanis placed fifth, while Strombergs failed to qualify for the finals.
Happy to hear that it's official. 2019 European championships are going to be held in Valmiera,… https://t.co/BDkFgrL9BO
