Latvia's skeleton her, Martins Dukurs, recorded his second victory in a week January 20 as he seeks yet more silverware for his trophy cabinet.

The fifth race of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup took place  at St Moritz in Switzerland.

After a slightly disappointing first run (in which he was still second-fastest), Dukurs pulled out a spectacular second run, breaking the season track record (1:07.25 minutes) in the process.

The multiple World Champion and defending World Cup winner narrowly edged ahead of first run leader, Sungbin Yun of Korea (0.03 seconds behind), to push him into second place with Nikita Tregybov of Russia (0.55 seconds behind), in third place with his first podium finish of the season.

With the victory Dukurs extended his lead over Sungbin Yun in the overall standings in the 2016/2017 BMW/IBSF World Cup.

Christopher Grotheer of Germany, who finished eighth in St. Moritz, is third overall.

Martins' brother Tomass Dukurs finished in sixth place at St Moritz.

St Moritz was the fifth of the eight World Cup races of the full season. You can watch what happened via the IBSF link below (may not work in all territories).
