The official handover event is scheduled for autumn this year, said Jeļena Gavrilova, Member of the Board of State Enterprise "State Real Estate" (VNĪ).
After the building is put into operation, furnishing and other works will continue so that staff and spectators can return to the building.
The theater will welcome back its staff and open its season on July 30 with a general meeting, the announcement of the new season's repertoire, as well as traditional events to celebrate the season.
Audiences will see the new space as of August 23.
The project included a renovation of the Grand Hall, including the construction of acoustic walls, new electrical wiring, the dismantling of boxes to create additional rows of seats, the replacement of the flooring, and the construction of an acoustic loop, as well as the installation of new chairs, providing more seats for the audience. A Black Box auditorium has also been built, VNĪ said.
The total cost of the project amounted to EUR 16,310,262, of which EUR 9,547,275 was provided by the European Regional Development Fund and EUR 6,755,039 by the state budget. Valmiera Theater covered EUR 7,948 of the total project costs.
