Jūrmala theater opens doors after renovation

In January, Jūrmala Theater has opened its doors to visitors after reconstruction, housing a troupe of amateur theater actors, a puppet theater studio, and a youth theater studio, the local government said Monday.

The Jūrmala Theater opened the show season on January 13, offering Susan Hill and Stephen Mallatratt's “Woman in Black”, directed by Imants Jaunzems.

Since summer 2021, the theater building on Muižnieku Street 7 in Bulduri has been restored in the total are of 1063.30 square meters. In addition to the refurbishment of the Great Hall, which has a capacity of 100 spectators, a new Small Hall with 55 spectator seats has been built. All theater spaces are suitable for people with reduced mobility, ensuring environmental accessibility.

EUR 1.04 million has been invested in the renovation of the building, attracting EUR 165.40 thousand from the European Regional Development Fund, EUR 4.38 thousand from the State budget, and investing local government co-financing of EUR 874.97 thousand.
