Actors and producers are to start using the temporary premises on June 30 when construction will be completed.
The process of moving to the former factory will take several months but this should not affect performances, says technical director Guntis Konstants.
"There are very many plays that can be moved to the Tobacco Factory premises with minimum adjustment," he said, adding that it will however take time to adapt some of the repertoire to the new location.
The New Riga Theater routinely hosts some of the most acclaimed Latvian directors, including Alvis Hermanis, Vladislavs Nastavševs and Viesturs Kairišs among others.
The theater is expected to return to its reconstructed premises in late 2020 to early 2021.
