A total of 2400 applications have been received for state aid - downtime benefits and subsidies - and the State Revenue Service (VID) is going to start paying them December 4, said Ieva Jaunzeme, VID Director, on Latvian Radio.

2400 applications have been received since Tuesday, but for the time being the VID does not yet know how many of them are self-employed, how many companies, this information will be able to be compiled when the payments begin.

Jaunzeme reminded companies who did not have any turnover between August and October are not eligible for the benefits. They are intended for those who worked.

Jaunzeme also pointed out that those companies that have received support during the spring emergency have been able to re-establish their operations and resume paying taxes, and their figures have already returned to levels of 2019.
