The new location will reportedly create 100 jobs to serve clients across the EU and Ukraine. The company already lists an office at Jaunmoku iela 34 – not far from the airport – as its address in the Latvian capital.
“Uzbekistan is undergoing rapid modernization and investing in digitalization, developing its IT business services sector – a sector that has shown stable growth in Latvia for several years. It is no coincidence that 90% of public services in Latvia are available electronically. This was one of the key reasons UZINFOCOM chose Riga for its European office. This move will undoubtedly strengthen Latvia’s position in the sector and boost business service exports,” said Raivis Bremsmits, Director General of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA).
Founded in 2002, UZINFOCOM has experience developing IT solutions, including biometric palm and facial recognition technologies, video analytics, and call center automation.
Back in May it said it "planned to establish a joint venture "Uzinfocom Europe" in Latvia to implement the solutions of the Single Integrator UZINFOCOM in the IT market of the European Union" in partnership with a company called "SHIPLEART" registered at the same Jaunmoku iela address.
According to data in the Latvian company register, "SHIPLEART" is a company founded in 2016 and owned by a Belarusian citizen resident in Latvia, Aliaksandr Piatrou (above, center). In turn "SHIPLEART" is owned by another Latvia-registered entity, "AP Holding" established in 2009.
The release from the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) about the deal gave a different rendering of the name Aliaksandr Piatrou as 'Aleksandrs Petrovs' and described him as Chairman of the Board of UZINFOCOM EUROPE in Latvia.
"We extend our special thanks to the Latvian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Reinis Troksa, and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Latvia, Timur Rahmanov, for their support in implementing this project. We also express our gratitude to the Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Latvia, Vladimir Galperin, and LIAA for their contributions to UZINFOCOM’s entry into Latvia,” Petrovs was quoted as saying.
UZINFOCOM as a company has over 1,000 employees. All company databases will be hosted within the EU, ensuring full compliance with European data security standards.
