Black Balzams heads Stateside

The Latvian alcoholic beverage producer Latvijas Balzams is planning to expand its exports of Rigas Melnais Balzams to the United States, the LETA newswire reported December 6.

The company said that it began expanding exports of the popular Latvian alcoholic beverage to the US in November.

The company's first export destination in the US is the state of New York, but it is also planning promotional activities and the expansion of exports in 2018 to such states as Texas, Florida, Illinois and California.

The company is currently exporting its original Riga Melnais Balzams, as well as Rigas Melnais Balzams with blackcurrant flavor. Next year, it will also be exporting to the US its Riga Melnais Balzams with cherry flavor.

In 2016, Latvijas Balzams posted EUR 75.72 million in turnover and EUR 7.509 million in profit.
