On November 22, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be hosting an event, “Market Access Day in Latvia 2022 – new markets, new opportunities”,  organized in association with the European Commission and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.

The event will focus on new export markets and access to them in Latin America (Mercosur, or the Southern Common Market – Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay – as well as in Chile and Mexico) and in Africa (Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia).

"Trade is the principal source of growth and employment in Europe. Free trade can only exist when companies have unimpeded access to international markets. In order to help small and medium-sized companies to overcome trade barriers in their export operations, experts from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade will introduce the participants to the main market access strategy tools, the Access2Markets portal and the Single Entry Point, as well as providing information on discriminatory or disproportionate regulations in various sectors in the said regions. Latvian companies will present their experience of working in those markets," says advance publicity.

The working languages of the event are English and Latvian.

For the program of the event and application form, see the website of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia at: https://www.liaa.gov.lv/lv/form/tirgus-piekluves-diena-latvija-2

Attendance is free of charge. Upon arriving at the Foreign Ministry, the participants are required to present their identity documents.

This will be the second time that the Market Access Day in partnership with the European Commission has been held as an in-person event.
