Cērps has 30 years of professional experience in the financial sector. He was the first head of the Financial and Capital Market Commission and headed it for eight years since its establishment in 2000.
From 2008 to 2017, he worked at Finansinspektionen, the Swedish financial supervisory authority, where he was a member of its management team and headed its banking supervision department.
Cērps' previous position was at the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, where he was Advisor to the President.
Uldis Cērps will take over the leadership of the Association from Sanita Bajāre, who has led the organization since 2019.
