The large increase in the tariff in the middle of 2023 shocked many citizens, then later politicians decided that by the end of 2023, the state would compensate the citizens for 60% of the tariff increase.
From January 1, 2024, the new, slightly lower distribution and transmission tariffs and also a new state support procedure came into force. The law set the "ceiling" of the increase for two years, according to which the fixed tariff for power maintenance in 2024, depending on the connection, may not increase by more than 2 to 6 euros.
According to the same decision, next year too, the tariff for capacity maintenance may not increase by more than 2 to 6 euros compared to this year.
As a result, the actual fee for the fixed part of the distribution tariff for households with connection capacity of 1 phase (16 to 25 amperes) and 3 phases (16 to 25 amperes) will increase by 2 to 6 euros, excluding VAT. Residents will see these changes in their bills from February 2025, the "Sadales tīkls" national electricity distribution company informed.
For connections of private individuals, which are not subject to state support (32 amperes and more connections), the fee for the distribution service from January will be the same as in 2024.
Other possible changes in customers' bills for electricity in 2025 will not be related to distribution services, but to changing consumption volumes or changes in the selling price of a kilowatt hour of electricity on the open market.
An updated tariff calculator is available on the homepage of "Sadales tīkls" , with the help of which residents can check for themselves what changes in monthly bills can be expected for their household.
The fee for electricity distribution for each household will depend on the type of connection (number of phases and amperes), the selected tariff plan, as well as monthly electricity consumption (number of kWh).
