The establishment of Elektrum Next separates the new renewable energy assets from the group's other business functions.
Elektrum Next will bring together the renewable energy projects implemented by the Latvenergo Group in recent years. Currently, the company is merging the solar power plants in Skulte, Rūjiena, Bauska, Rezekne, Eleja, and Ķegums, which will be built in 2024. Elektrum Next will gradually add other projects.
This year Latvenergo has started the development of large-scale wind power projects in Latvia and elsewhere in the Baltics: in the first quarter of 2026, the Telsiai NPP in Lithuania will be operational, generating 124 megawatts (MW) of wind power.
In September 2024, Latvenergo AS became 100% shareholder of Laflora Energy Ltd to build a wind power plant (WPP) with a total capacity of 108.8 MW (megawatts) on the former peat mining site of Kaigu Bog in Līvbērze municipality, to start generating electricity in June 2026.
In November, Latvenergo AS acquired 100% of the capital of DSE Aizpute Solar Ltd. from Danish green energy developer Danish Sun Energy ApS and will build a solar power plant with a total capacity of 265 MW by the end of 2025.
