This year, the jury judged small two-storey houses, a 12-storey building, a shop, a school and a hospital. Each building surveyed revealed different stories and valuable insights.
During the competition, the jury assessed heating solutions, construction quality, sustainability and ventilation systems.
The winners of the "Most Energy Efficient Building in Latvia 2024" competition:
Apartment building at 90 Dzelzavas Street in Riga - first place in the nomination "Most Energy Efficient Renovated Apartment Building in Latvia 2024";
Ogre State Gymnasium - first place in the nomination "Most Energy Efficient Public Building in Latvia 2024";
Apartment building in Mārupe, Lielā Street 45 - first place in the nomination "The most energy efficient newly built apartment building in Latvia 2024.
"We are pleased that more and more energy efficiency project implementers can be proud of the innovations and efficient technical solutions they have applied. There is no better motivation than a good example!
"May today's winners serve as an excellent example for other residential, industrial and public buildings, as well as private homes, to become more energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
"We are aware that improving energy efficiency in buildings requires investment, which is why we currently offer more than €240 million in public support through various support programmes. In turn, more than €430 million will be available to support energy efficiency investments under European Union (EU) funding programmes," said Edmunds Valantis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economics.
