Producer prices down 2.6% on year in Latvia

Data published September 20 by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia show that in August 2024, compared to August 2023, level of producer prices in the Latvian industry reduced by 2.6 %. 

The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market reduced by 4.8 %, and prices of exported products by 0.4 %. Prices of products exported to euro-area countries decreased by 0.6 % and of products exported to non-euro area countries by 0.2 %.

Price drop in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, as well as the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture), had a downward impact on the level of producer prices during the year.

In August 2024, compared to July 2024, the level of producer prices in Latvian industry decreased by 0.1 %. Prices of products sold on the domestic market rose by 0.4 %, while prices of exported products reduced by 0.6 %. Prices of products exported to euro area countries reduced by 0.2 % and prices of products exported to non-euro area countries by 1.0 %.

The price drop in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture) had a downward impact on the overall level of producer prices during the month. Production and trade of electricity had an upward impact on the producer price changes.
