Producer prices down slightly on year in Latvia

Data of the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia, published on November 22, show that in October 2024, compared to October 2023, level of producer prices in the Latvian industry fell by 1.3 %. 

Prices of products sold on the domestic market fell by 3.7 %, but prices of exported products grew by 0.9 %. Prices of products exported to euro-area countries increased by 1.2 %, and of products exported to non-euro area countries by 0.7 %.

For the first time since April 2023 level of prices in manufacturing rose, which was determined by price changes of exported products.

Price drops in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, as well as printing and reproduction of recorded media had a downward impact on the level of producer prices during the year. Manufacture of selected food products, waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery, as well as manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture) had an upward effect.

In October 2024, compared to September 2024, the level of producer prices in Latvian industry increased by 0.5 %. The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market went up by 0.3 %, and prices of exported products – by 0.7 %. Prices of products exported to euro area countries increased by 0.8 % and prices of products exported to non-euro area countries – by 0.6 %.

Price rise in manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture), trade and production of electricity, manufacture of selected food products, as well as waste collection, treatment and disposal activities; materials recovery had upward impact on the overall level of producer prices during the month.
