600 million redistributed among ministries

On Tuesday, June 2, the Cabinet decided to reallocate EUR 600 million for various ministerial initiatives, of which 103.2 million will be channeled to health infrastructure projects.

The government reviewed a report prepared by the Ministry of Finance on measures to overcome the COVID-19 crisis. Overall, State aid amounts to EUR 2.1 billion. From this amount, the government has already reserved EUR 966.46 million for various measures, for example, downtime compensations etc. 

On Tuesday, ministers agreed to redistribute an additional EUR 600 million.

Of these, EUR 223 million will be channeled to modernization projects: 75  million for the Altum Investment Fund, 90 million as a financial instrument to support large economic operators, while 58 million will go for modernization in the agricultural sector.

EUR 152.2 million will be channeled to various infrastructure projects, of which 103.2 will be spent on the health sector - Paula Stradina hospital, Oncological Center, Emergency Medical Service, and regional hospitals.

EUR 11 million has been channeled to cultural infrastructure, while EUR 35 million is for the warming of buildings.

EUR 63.5 million has been planned for education and science projects.

The cultural sector will have a total of  EUR 32 million in aid.

EUR 20 million is planned to be channeled as aid to the tourism sector.

EUR 66 million is for Latvian railways and other carriers.
