This year the Free Port of Riga marks its 815th anniversary year and its stand at the TransRussia 2015 show is dedicated to the jubilee.
Ozoliņš touted Riga’s service as a significant transit hub well positioned on both eastern- and western-bound trade routes. Today Riga leads all of the other Baltic ports in cargo turnover, a large part of which are Russia’s exported energy resources – coal and gas products. Moreover, the launch last year of Russian-Latvian joint venture Riga Fertilizer Terminal notably boosted the turnover of fertilizer through the port, as well.
More than 35 Latvian companies are taking part in the national delegation to the TransRussia 2015 exhibition led by the ministry representatives, including also from the Ventspils Free Port and Liepāja Special Economic Zone authorities. The trade show will last until Friday, April 24.
