Inflation continued in July in Latvia

The latest data published August 9 by the Central Statistical Bureau show that in July 2021, compared to July 2020, the average level of consumer prices increased by 2.8%.

Compared to July 2020, in July 2021 the average level of consumer prices was mainly influenced by the rise in prices of goods and services related to transport, goods and services related to housing, food and non-alcoholic beverages, clothing and footwear, health care, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.

Compared to June 2021, in July 2021 the average level of consumer prices increased by 0.4 %. The greatest pressure on the price changes was put by the rise of prices of goods and services related to housing, goods and services related to transport, furnishings, restaurant and hotel services, as well as by the fall in prices of clothing and footwear, prices in miscellaneous goods and services group, and prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
