Latvia receives protective equipment from EU joint purchase

On June 8, Latvia received the first personal protective equipment load purchased within the framework of a joint procurement organized by European Commission (EC), Emergency Medical Service said on June 8.

25 000 goggles and 100 000 surgical masks are currently being delivered.

On March 3 this year, the Cabinet allocated EUR 752 301 from unforeseen circumstances funds to the European joint procurement of personal protective equipment for healthcare institutions.

Prices and specifics of the equipment are determined by agreements of the European Commission with the production companies.

The first cost of delivery to Latvia is EUR 228 000, including EUR 58 000 for surgical masks and EUR 170 000 for goggles.

Both the Health Inspectorate and the Consumer Rights Protection Center have received evidence of traceability and compliance with requirements of the European Union.
