The Prime Minister has ordered all ministers and the Director of the State Chancellery, Jānis Citskovskis, to submit information to the Ministry of Economics by August 19 this year regarding the energy saving measures planned by the Ministry, its institutions and capital companies during the upcoming heating season and the estimated amount of savings.
On the other hand, the Minister of Economics Ilze Indriksone (National Alliance) has commissioned the Prime Minister to compile the information submitted by the Ministries by September 2 this year, to develop guidelines setting out the overall targets for energy savings during the upcoming heating season, and to submit the draft guidelines to the government.
“Russia is continuing the brutal war in Ukraine, as well as using energy resources as blackmail, trying to both weaken and divide the European Union's member states in its support of Ukraine. Russia will not be successful if we are able to overcome the difficulties in a united and solidary way, so I have asked all ministers and the State Chancellery to prepare for the implementation of energy-saving measures,” the Prime Minister said.
