In the last two months, "Latvijas Pasts" (LP) serviced an average of 23 transit cargo planes per month, 6.6 times or more than 550% more than the entire period of previous cooperation in each month since August 2017, the company said July 20.

Although, due to COVID-19, the arrival of transit consignments has been difficult since the beginning of 2020 and the flow of these consignments has been substantially narrowed, it has been rapidly growing in the last two months.

By July 20 2020, LP received 165 mail transit cargo trucks from China, handling and directing shipments from the world's second largest trading platform, Alibaba, in cooperation with the logistics company of the Alibaba group, Cainiao, to several beneficiary countries.

“We are pleased to have succeeded in becoming a significant and valued part of the international logistics system of the global trading giant Alibaba,” said Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of LP Board, in a statement to the media.

New targets are currently being planned in cooperation with Cainiao. LP is also working with partners to offer new services in order to ensure optimal delivery of e-commerce goods.
