Latvia's Revenue Service prepares for annual tax returns

Take note – story published 1 year ago

Every year, more than a million inhabitants of Latvia submit annual income declarations to recover overpaid taxes. The State Revenue Service (VID) said on Latvian Television February 12 that there is no rush to do it on the first day.

The declaration for 2022 can be submitted starting March 1.

"One certainly doesn't have to rush to do it on the first day. The moment that a declaration can start to be made for last year is March 1, but the deadline for how long it can be done is really long. A voluntary declaration can be made for nearly three and a half years. This means that if receipts are currently in a drawer from 2019, they can still be submitted until June 16 of this year," said Inita Kabanova, head of the public relations department of the VID.

The declaration can be submitted on the VID electronic declaration system VID EDS as well as the VID mobile application for eligible expense receipts.
