Manufacturing output up by 7.9% in July in Latvia

Data published September 3 by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in July 2021, compared to July 2020, the volume of manufacturing production output1 according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices increased by 7.9%.

Production output increase was registered in electricity and gas supply – by 13.2%, and in mining and quarrying - by 11.8 %. Total industrial production output increased by 8.4%.

In July of this year, out of 22 manufacturing industries, 17 sectors showed increase in manufacturing production output, including high and medium-high technology sectors.

In turn, the decline in output was registered in the manufacture of other transport equipment, manufacture of basic metals, repair and installation of machinery and equipment - by 6 %, as well as in the second largest manufacturing sector - food production - by 1.4 %.

In July 2021, compared to June 2021, manufacturing production output according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices remained at the level of the previous month. Production output increase was also in mining and quarrying - by 3 %, but in electricity and gas supply there was a drop of 1.3 %. Total industrial production output increased by 0.8 %.
