Mikrotikls co-owner tops Latvia's rich list

IT company Mikrotilks co-founder Arnis Riekstiņš is ranked first in newspaper Dienas Bizness' list of 100 wealthiest people in Latvia, up from fourth place last year.

Riekstiņš' wealth is estimated at EUR 172 million, or EUR 10 million more than in 2017.

Rietumu Banka's co-owner Leonids Esterkins is ranked second at EUR 120 million (EUR 106 million down from 2017 when Esterkins was ranked third), while Olegs Fils and Ernests Bernis, the owners of ABLV Bank that is currently undergoing liquidation procedures, are ranked third and fourth respectively. Fils' wealth is estimated at EUR 100 million (EUR 215 million down from last year), and Bernis' wealth - EUR 98 million (EUR 214 million reduction).

Former Olainfarms owner Valērijs Maligins, who died in December 2017, is ranked fifth (up from seventh last year); his wealth is estimated at EUR 88 million (EUR 18 million up from 2017).

Ranked sixth to tenth are Justs Nikolajs Karlsons (EUR 75 million, EUR 2 million decrease), Arkādijs Suharenko (EUR 62 million, down by EUR 54 million), Janis Zuzāns (EUR 60 million, EUR 2 million up from 2017), Uldis Asars (EUR 56 million, EUR 20 million increase), and Egils Butka (EUR 48 million, EUR 8 million increase).
