Take note – story published 1 year ago

An international online conference on May 18 will discuss the future of nuclear energy in Latvia. Energy, nuclear and radiation experts from Latvia and abroad will speak about the challenges posed by climate change and the energy crisis in energy production.

Discussions will be dedicated to energy policy in Latvia, small modular nuclear reactors, as well as radiation safety issues.

“Right now, there has also been an increased demand from society to discuss many of the issues that should be addressed when deciding on the possible development of nuclear energy in Latvia or our region. These include sectors such as education, science, also state governing bodies, which have to deal with both legal and purely technical issues in order to be able to develop organizationally,” one of the conference Executive Director of Latvian Association of Power Engineers and Energy Constructors, told Latvian Radio.

The conference will be streamed online on nuclear.lv website, and the general public will have the opportunity to weigh in on several issues. The conference begins at 11:00.
