When providing public catering services in outdoor areas, the service provider must comply with the following conditions:
- not more than four adult persons are present at one table, no more than two households, and no more than 10 persons together (adults and children);
- a distance of at least two meters between persons sitting at different tables shall be provided if there is no wall between the tables;
- tableware and napkins shall be given individually to each visitor;
- the tables shall be disinfected after each meal (each visitor);
- employees and visitors shall use mouth and nose covers, except when sitting at the table.
In order to avoid crowding in the late hours of the evening, there is a limit on the working hours of public catering: they may open at 6 AM and must close at 9 PM. Restaurants can only provide takeaway after 9 PM. Alcohol sales will not be limited.
In addition, information must be clearly accessible to the public, including in foreign languages.
“The first step has been taken: catering services will be available on the outdoor terraces! At the same time, this decision also prevents the public from becoming confused about the mess that has emerged, namely that if a family has lunch at one table at home, why can't they eat lunch on the outside terrace of a cafe when it comes to warm weather? Or if two households are allowed to meet outside, why should they not eat together at the same table?" said Minister of Economics Jānis Vitenbergs.
