Over 800 million paid in Covid aid in Latvia

The State Revenue Service (VID) paid a total of EUR 811.44 million in aid during the Covid-19 pandemic over three periods, said Ieva Jaunzeme, director-general of the VID, to LETA June 10.

The largest amount - EUR 668.01 million - was paid between November 2020 and June 2021.

Between October 2021 and February 2022 €89.61 million was paid, and €53.82 million between March and June 2020.

69,778 applications were received during all three periods of aid, Jaunzeme said. 

Wage subsidies were worth €23.357 million to 30,455 people in the second wave of the pandemic, while €19.375 million was paid in the third wave of the pandemic.

On the other hand, €501.732 million was paid to taxpayers in the second wave of the pandemic and €70.233 million was paid to taxpayers in the third wave.
