Quarterly GDP tops 7 billion euros for first time ever

Latvia's accelerating economy recorded another first November 30 with news that quarterly GDP had exceeded 7 billion euros for the first time ever, totalling 7.095 billion euros.

In addition, the export of goods and services (at current prices) exceeded 4 billion euros for the first time ever.

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to the 2nd quarter, in the 3rd quarter of 2017 gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices increased by 1.5 % (according to revised, seasonally and calendar adjusted data).

Compared to the corresponding period of 2016, in the 3rd quarter of this year the GDP grew by 5.8 % according to seasonally and calendar non-adjusted data and by 6.2 % according to adjusted data.

Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2016, in the 3rd quarter of 2017 manufacturing grew by 8 %.

Manufacture of food products as well as manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork went up by 4 %, while manufacture of fabricated metal products rose by 23 %.
