Retail sector growth continued in July

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that, compared to July 2016, in July 2017 total retail trade turnover rose by 3.9 %. Turnover of retail trade in food products increased by 4.6 %, and turnover of retail trade in non-food products grew by 3.3 %.

The most significant turnover growth was recorded in the retail sale of information and communication equipment (of 15.0 %), hardware, paints and glass (14.4 %), cultural and recreation goods (13.6 %), and clothing and footwear (6.1 %). 

Turnover falls were registered in pharmaceutical and medical goods (of 4.3 %) as well as automotive fuel (of 2.6 %).

The total retail trade turnover at current prices increased by 5.3 % (not taking into account the calendar influence).

Compared to June,in July 2017 retail trade turnover went up by 0.8 % (according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices).

Compared to June, in July 2017 the total retail trade turnover at current prices rose by 2.8 % (not taking into account seasonality).
