Calendar adjusted data (at constant prices) compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) and published November 29 show that, compared to October 2020, in October 2021 total retail trade turnover reduced by 2.3 %.

Turnover of retail trade in food products grew by 0.1 %. Retail trade in non-food products (except for retail sale of automotive fuel) decreased by 5.7 %, but turnover of retail sale of automotive fuel increased by 1.4 %.

Compared to October 2020, the most notable turnover rise was recorded in retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet (of 22.1 %), retail sale in stalls or markets (15.3 %) and retail trade in pharmaceutical and medical goods (12.5 %).

As of October 20 stricter security conditions were introduced at trade areas with the purpose of significantly reducing crowding and contact in public places, which probably partly explains why online ordering became much more popular.

Total retail trade turnover at current prices increased by 4.5 % (not taking into account the calendar influence).
