Rīga City Council passes municipal budget

On January 26, the Riga City Council passed the municipal budget for this year with three priority directions outlined:- social assistance, salaries, and infrastructure, LETA reported.

Budget revenue for this year is projected at EUR 996 million, which is EUR 11 million more than in 2021.

The total budget expenditure is planned at EUR 1.15 billion. Of these, the largest areas are education - EUR 397 million, transportation - EUR 300 million, social spending - EUR 121 million, housing - EUR 56 million, culture - EUR  32 million and the environment - EUR 15 million.

The municipality plans to gradually increase the salaries of various employee sectors, including medical staff, police, teachers, with a salary increase between 4% to 8%.
