Take note – story published 7 years ago

Riga has been included for the first time in the Global Finance Centers Index (GFCI) and is in 71st place out of 86 global finance centers included in the ranking.

In the list of Eastern European and Central Asian financial centers, Riga is ranked fifth behind Istanbul, Warsaw, Prague and Moscow, the Association of Latvian Commercial Banks informs.

The index also includes Tallinn, ranked 78th. At the top are such global financial centers as London, New York and Singapore.

The GFCI was first published by the Z/Yen Group in March 2007 following a research project into city competitiveness which began in 2005.

The aim of the GFCI is to examine the major financial centres globally in terms of competitiveness. The GFCI has been published every six months.
