The total tax debt of the 52,909 tax dodgers included in the State Revenue Service’s list exceeds €1.202 billion, reported LETA on May 15.

Taking into account taxpayers ‘strong interest, the State Revenue Service today resumed publishing its list of tax debtors, which is available on the Revenue Service’s website and features every commercial or other legal entity whose tax debt exceeded €150 as at May 7, 2017.

Like in September 2016 when the Revenue Service released its last list of Latvia’s biggest tax dodgers, Tendem Neman electronic goods wholesaler emerged as the biggest tax debtor also in May of this year. The company’s tax debt has grown from €43.742 million last September to €58.818 million in May 2017.

The company’s operations were suspended in February 2016 and terminated in April 2017. According to Firmas.lv business database, the company belongs to a Lithuanian individual.

Polietica Plastic SETR, a company registered outside Latvia, was the second biggest tax debtor in May of this year with a tax debt of €28.134 million.

Ormus, a wholesaler of timber and construction materials, was in third place with a tax debt of €20.998 million. The company has been removed from the register of VAT payers already since August 15, 2015.

Elektrolats came forth with €17.269 million in unpaid taxes. The company’s operations have been terminated since November, 2016.

Bebriko Ltd, a manufacturer of bronze bars and pipes, which in December 2015 was ruled insolvent, was fifth with a tax debt of €11.474 million.

Further down the list came Eco Tyre Baltics with a tax debt of €10.72 million, Evixom with €10.008 million, Reneprint with €8.56 million, Krasainie Lejumi with €8.395 million and Membrant with €7.715 million in unpaid taxes.

The Revenue Service will be updating its list of tax debtors monthly. The latest data shows that currently there are around 120,000 tax debtors in Latvia.

The Revenue Service suspended the publication of the list of Latvia’s largest tax debtors last fall.

"The laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia do not oblige us to collate and publish data on taxpayers and taxpayers who owe the state large amounts of unpaid taxes, therefore such data will not be published anymore as of November 2016," the Revenue Service said in a statement after releasing its last list of tax debtors in September 2016.
