April unemployment rate down slightly in Latvia

Results of the Labor Force Survey published on May 19 by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in April 2023 actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.8 % and compared to March it has reduced by 0.3 percentage points.

The unemployment rate among men fell by 0.4 percentage points down to 6.4 % and among women by 0.2 percentage points to 5.2 %.

The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (NVA) constituted 5.7 % and since March it has reduced by 0.3 percentage points. Compared to April 2022, actual unemployment rate has gone down by 0.1 percentage points and registered by 0.8 percentage points.

In April 2023 there were 54.9 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia (24.3 thousand women and 30.6 thousand men), which is a drop of 2.7 thousand over the month and of 8.9 thousand over the year. Over the month the number of unemployed men fell by 1.9 thousand and of unemployed women by 0.8 thousand.
